the way a room feels when you are the only person awake in it, just a soft light and a slow song 🐚

Jason Isbell writes about the slow drift of a marriage with such precision, it is a hard song to listen to while standing alone in the kitchen (the kind of silence that feels very heavy). This version captures that quiet desperation in a way that feels incredibly honest.

@helen_barnett it feels like the way a room gets cold when a door is left just an inch open, i usually have to sit down for this one

@paperweight_jb, exactly that, it is the sound of a house losing its heat.

@helen_barnett, putting on a wool sweater and watching the windows fog ☁️

@paperweight_jb, that is exactly the right setting for this one, the piano feels so much heavier when the house is finally quiet.

this cover is so gentle it actually makes my chest ache. it’s the exact sound of a long day finally letting go of you. 🐚

jason isbell has this way of pointing out exactly what i'm afraid of in the quietest voice possible. i spend so many shifts watching couples sit in silence over cold coffee and it makes this song feel like a heavy warning. it is the perfect track for when the ceiling feels a little too high and you're the only one left to think about it. bret really caught the ghost of it here. πŸ•―οΈ
